Blob Opera is an innovative and interactive musical instrument developed by artist David Li in partnership with Google Arts & Culture. This tool enables users to craft and perform operatic melodies with the help of charming, blob-like, cartoon characters. These characters symbolize various vocal roles, and users can adjust their pitch and vowel tones to produce harmonious operatic tunes. The experience serves as an entertaining primer on composing music and a lighthearted journey into the realm of musical harmony.
Key Features:
The application offers four distinct vocal roles—soprano, alto, tenor, and bass—each symbolized by vibrant blobs. Each blob delivers a unique vocal range:
Soprano (high-pitched voice)
Alto (mid-high-pitched voice)
Tenor (mid-low-pitched voice)
Bass (low-pitched voice)
Users can control each blob by clicking and dragging:

Vertical dragging adjusts the pitch (producing higher or lower notes).

Horizontal dragging modifies the vowel sounds (shifting from more closed to more open vocalizations). The other blobs automatically align with the played note, facilitating the creation of beautiful, harmonious opera performances for everyone, regardless of their musical background.
